It's the last day of Dressing Up Dolly!
Hope you've loved it :)
I'll be back tomorrow with links to all of the posts in case you missed something
Hi, I'm Jessica, and I blog at
Mom 4 Real. You can usually find me sharing DIY and home decor projects with a few crafts here and there, but I wanted to venture out and try something new. My little girl, Kate, has a vast love for her American Girl dolls, and as I am sure you know, their clothes and accessories can get really expensive. So, I thought I would try my hand at making a dress for her new doll, McKenna. Well, that didn't go so well, so I opted for a book bag instead.
I started with two 6 X 6 squares of scrap fabric I had in my stash.
I folded the edges inward about 1/4 inch, folding over twice, then I sewed all the way around on each square.
I then cut a piece of ric rac 6 inches long and sewed the end to the inside of one of the square panels.
I made sure to place the ends close to the edges.
Next, I placed the square panels together right sides together, and sewed all the way around leaving the top open.
Then I turned the bag right side out.
I hot glued on a large pink button, then a green gem as well. All finished!
Now, McKenna has a cute little bag to carry her school books in. Maybe I'll give the dress another try, because this truly was fun!
