3 Step Pillow Cover Tutorial

Have a room that needs a quick face lift? Liven things up with some new toss pillows!
And since you can get these done in 3 steps and with less than 1 yard of fabric it's quick and budget friendly too :)

***I bought my super cute fabric at Cotton Blossom Farm- make sure you remember to enter the giveaway

Since our kiddos are sharing a room I'm trying to add a few more boyish items. I thought about doing something fancier with my pillow and then I decided that the fabric was so cute I would just leave it alone and I'm glad I did. This seriously took 10 minutes

And I was pleasantly surprised with how easy the zipper was to put in and love how professional looking it is. I've tried the envelope style pillow covers and with a toddler in our house they're always getting pulled off. Luckily she hasn't found this zipper yet :)
1. Measure your pillow and cut 2 squares to 1" bigger than your measurement (assuming a 1/2" seam allowance). With your zipper face down sew one edge of the zipper to one edge of the pillow cover.
2. Take your 2nd pillow cover piece and sew one edge to the other side of the zipper. It will look like this when you're finished
3. Fold the cover in half so right sides are together and sew up the remaining 3 edges. Make sure the zipper is part way open. Turn right side out and zip your pillow in and you're all set!
Now the only problem is keeping it on the rocking chair. Someone keeps wandering off with it to use as a bed for Cosmo (BYU's mascot)
I think he looks pretty cozy :)

Flutter Sleeve Tee Tutorial

Need a few more items to round out the back to school wardrobe?
This flutter sleeve tee is quick, simple, and oh so cute!
Makes a girl pretty happy!
And I was pretty happy with it too because it was so easy to put together! And since it's knit it's super comfy and perfect for everyday wear.

Want to make one for your little lady?
or little man- you can definitely use this same idea to make a basic tank and just leave off the sleeves

Let's get started!

Cotton Blossom Farm Fabric Giveaway

This week's giveaway is from my amazing new sponsor Cotton Blossom Farm!
I know you are going to LOVE them because I just ordered from them last week and was so happy  with my fabric. They had just what I was looking for, super fast shipping, and great prices!
And one of my very favorite things is you can order exactly what you need: no 1 yard minimums in this shop!

I got this darling Urban Zoologie Owls fabric to make a pillow for my rocker and I'm so happy with it (tutorial coming soon...)!
I'll let them introduce themselves:

"Cotton Blossom Farm is a family business, located on a working farm in central Mississippi.  A new fabric studio building at the farm is almost ready and
will be home to the rapidly expanding inventory of beautiful fabrics.  Cathy, Robin and Heath run the shop, Evan is the webmaster and they all strive to
create a pleasurable shopping experience."

Just a Peek: Awww...

Our little guy is at such a fun age right now. LOVE those gummy little smiles and I can't get enough of the thunder thighs :)
and I wish I could take credit for the quilt too, but this one was a gift
It seems Just a Peek has been a bit baby geared lately and that's because he can't run away from me yet :) More pictures of our big girl coming in tomorrow's post

I really need to make these! Little miss is super picky and will only eat certain foods if I feed them to her. Or if "big Elmo" feeds her... Maybe an exciting spoon will help???

Vote for your Favorite on the Sidebar!
voting ends at the end of the day on 8/23

There were a ton of amazing submissions and ultimately I selected patterns that I personally love and are appropriate for the fall and winter season. I'll definitely be sewing one up for my girly so she has to like it too :)

***NOTE: The pattern I come up with will be a piece inspired by the design you choose. It will not be a replica. Option #1 is an out of print/out of stock pattern from Sugar City (I did attempt to contact her and never heard back). She has a note on her blog saying she is no longer in business.

I tracked down the designer for entries 2 and 3 in the linky party and she does sell those patterns so that's why I didn't pick either of those. Her shop is under some construction right now buy you can stay tuned for the pattern release at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Adelaides-Boutique/255927287757222
