Have a ruined dress stashed in the back of the closet?
Don't throw it out - it can be saved!
Last year my neighbor gave me this dress that her daughter had attacked with some scissors
Oops!
She thought I might want it and of course I did :) It took me a year to get around to it, but now the dress has a happy new home as summer pjs
And by now you must be thinking that little miss lives in her PJs because this is the 3rd pair I've posted about this summer! And when I starting adding PJs to the Pattern Shop I also made her a Sadie Nightie and some Alex & Anna Summer PJs. Variety is the spice of life right ???
Check out the Sweet Dreams Ruffled Nightgown and Mini & Me Summer PJs
Anyway to save this dress I just detached the bottom ruffle, cut the top right at the tear, and then reattached the ruffle. The dress bloomers became the jammie bottoms. If I had got around to this last year she definitely could have worn it as a sun suit
The other idea I toyed around with was cutting the dress right at the tear and attaching a knit waistband to make it a skirt. So many possibilities :)
On less ruffly outfits appliques work great for covering up little mishaps
So dig through those closets and find the ripped and stained clothes and get creative!

great re mix! I had a dress (handmade!) go through the wash and get dyed blue last month. I can't bare to throw it, but I didn't consider turning it into something else!
