#1 Painted Train Art
Steph from Crafting in the Rain
I'm so excited to be in round 2--thanks! Well, I hope you're not too sick of pallet art yet, because that's what I did for this week's kids theme :) I honestly struggled in deciding what to create for this challenge, so I finally just went with my gut and did a project that's been on my to-do list for months. That way, even if I don't advance in the competition, I've completed a piece I love. I aged some pallet wood, hand painted an abstract train image that I found online, and hung it up in my son's room.

I think this is just about the cutest pallet art I have seen! This is perfect for a little boys room, I love it!
What a great idea!!! The train looks amazing and I'm so shocked that she painted it by hand, wow!
I LOVE the aged wood look! This is an amazing piece! I am super impressed with hand painting done on it! Great job!!

#2 Suitcase Puppet Theatre
Melissa from Melly Sews
I'm feeling the pressure after my (completely unexpected) win in week one, and I've decided to do another Not Sewing Project for my week two entry - the Suitcase Puppet Theatre. This is a vintage suitcase to which I added a hinged pop-up stage. I love that my boys can set up a tabletop theatre in seconds, and when they're done, the puppets and everything stores safely inside. I also love the vintage peddler feel of the whole thing, and chose the scrapbook papers that I Mod-Podged onto the stage proscenium and the suitcase lid accordingly. You can check out more pictures on my blog; my boys did not want to put it away and go inside for lunch!
OK Melly, seriously - this is just so inventive. I am in love with this craft. How fun is it?!!! Using the pop up front stage, and the backdrop on the back of the suitcase - Genius.
My favorite! What a great idea to use a suitcase like this!! I love that they can pull it out and play with it. Then put it away when they are done!

#3 Painted Chair & Birdie Pillow
Emily from 52 Mantels
Every day my one-year-old daughter becomes more of a toddler and less of a baby (sniff sniff!) and with that, comes her personal quest for independence. I knew she'd love to have her very own, big-girl chair and when I saw an unfinished, pint-size chair for just $7, I knew it was meant for her! I painted it, distressed it, aged it...and, then I added a simple bird shape and her name using fun, Amy Butler scrapbook paper. Of course, she had to have a bird-shaped throw pillow to go with her new chair, so I made one (my second sewing project since high school home ec!) using her outgrown baby jammies and a sweet swaddle blanket (sentimental momma, right here!). You can find out all the details on my blog, 52 Mantels!
I loooooooooove that chair, and I looooooooove that pillow! I want both of them for my girls room. Gah! Love it. How did you know turquoise is my favorite color?!!
I REALLY love the idea of using old baby jammies for the fabric. This will be a piece that she can treasure forever. The chair is darling as well. I'm always a huge fan of trash to treasure! :)

#4 Princess Reading Shack
Amanda from Simply Homemade
The weather in TN has been glorious lately! As I began this week's project, it started out as a teepee so as to enjoy the lovely sunshine. I used pvc pipe for the frame and a canvas drop cloth to wrap around that, but as most of my projects do, it evolved into something a little more. It started with 2 giant ruffles on the bottom. (like so many good things in life). Then came the ginormous circles. I also added some tabs along the edges to keep the shabby, ruffly, outer fabric in place. When my four year old saw it set up in the yard, she grabbed her books and dashed outside. Thus, it has been dubbed "The Princess Reading Shack." It's the perfect hideout for my shabby little princess!

This blows me away. I know just how much time went into making this, and I am floored. What little girl wouldn't love her very own tent? I can completely imagine this made to look like a flower too with different color fabric petals. I love it.

That princess shack is so stinkin' cute! I just love the fabrics that she used. Such a great idea!
What a fabulous idea! My kids would love to have a little book reading hiding place. This would even be cute in a bedroom!

#5 Easter Dress
Jess from A Couple of Craft Addicts
When I found out the theme for this week I was instantly inspired and knew exactly what I was going to make. I wanted to do something in my element (sewing) and challenge myself. So I came up with a great Easter dress design. It keeps up with current trends: solid color, lots of ruffles, and very feminine. I added a little bit of southern bell flair with a bustle, big bow, and some extra color in a violet petti skirt. The hair piece is a collection of vintage style flowers from the scrap book section of the craft store. The whole ensemble together is the perfect combination of vintage and sweetness. I love how it turned out, and am so glad my fingers are still working after making all those ruffles (lol).

Jess is speaking my language with this dress. Simply the perfect Easter Dress - that giant bow, with all of those ruffles...perfection! Another humongous sewing project too with all those ruffles - this dress took hours and hours and hours - and it was well worth all of the time that went into it. I loooooooooove it!
That dress is so cute!!! I LOVE the ruffles! So cute!
Darling Easter dress!! I am in love with the peek a boo ruffles underneath. The headband just completes it perfectly!

Hi again Nap Time Crafters! It's Katie again from Sweet Rose Studio and I am absolutely *thrilled* to be in the competition for another week. It was tough to make through last week with all of those other amazing projects! This week's theme of Kids was right up my alley; I have two small kids and my son is starting his first real preschool next week. I wanted to come up with something that would be fun for him to practice everything he's learning, something that could grow with him, and something that would help us stay organized. The Learning Center was the perfect answer. Using plywood, crown moulding remnants, felt, and some small cup hooks, I created a moveable felt board that we can use to practice all of the concepts he needs to master. I also created sets of flashcards for him to hang from the bottom that will be available on my blog tomorrow.
My kids are in love already! Thanks again for having me here Amy!
Love the crown molding and stripes that were used. And I know how felt will just stick to itself - so this is perfect for a preschooler who is just starting to learn! Very smart!

This is such a good idea!! I love the black and white stripes, they are so much fun!

I am so honored to have made it to the second round of American Crafter, a big thank you to all who voted for me! For this week's kids challenge, I wanted to do a fun craft my daughter and I could do together. Since the weather has been beautiful here in Georgia, and we she loves fairies and finding "nature treasures" I decided to make a fairy house with her. She makes an adorable fairy, don't you think? Check out my blog Pinafores & Pinwheels for more pictures and info. Crossing my fingers to make it to the third round, because it seemed to work last time! ~Stephanie

I L.O.V.E. THIS. Ok, so the word love is starting to sound cheap from me - because I love everything - I really do. But I look at this house and know just how much my daughter would flip for it, and well, I just love it! So stinking cute!
That fairy house is so cute!! Love the picture as a fairy!

#8 Spring Collection
Terra from Mama Says Sew
For the Kid's Round, I decided on my favorite thing to make for my children-clothing. I got a little carried away and designed a collection instead of just one outfit. I love how the pieces work together to create multiple outfits. There are a total of six pieces {seven if you count both leg warmers-ha!} and the only pattern I used was a basic pants pattern that I altered for the shorts. Come on over to my blog for more pictures, more on my inspiration, and later, tutorials and/or patterns.
Did I miss something? Did you have a month to make a collection for this weekly challenge - and I was unaware. Ummm.....WOW. Not only did you create an entire collection, but these pieces are all amazing! I am so impressed. I cannot wait to see how you made those sailoresque capris. Say it with me y'all...I love it!
These clothes are so cute!! I was so shocked when I saw that she made them because they look like something that you could just pick up at the store, amazing!
Where do I even begin! That chevron dress is darling and the ruffled skirt is SO cute! SEVEN new outfits for a lucky little girl!!

#9 Changing Table to Ice Cream Parlor
Holly from My Sister's Suitcase
We have an ugly black changing table in my daughter's room that I have been wanting to refinish forever... I don't even use the shelves on it, it's basically for changing her bum and that's it! So for this week's challenge I decided not only to paint it, but to make it into a play area-- her own little ice cream parlor!
It still functions as a changing table on top, but the shelves are now stocked full of felt ice cream, cones, toppings, dishes, and lots of fun accessories. I even made her a "freezer" to hold the treats, and created a "pick up window" for her brother's to go orders :)
For the all the yummy details, {including how to create the fold-out awning} check out our blog. I had so much fun creating this for my sweet Anna {and she LOVES it!!!}
I LOOOOVE this too!!! GAH! This is so fabulous! I mean - what kid wouldn't completely flip for this?! It is fantastic!!!

That ice parlor is so fun! With summer coming up this is a great idea!! So much fun!
Hey Guys!! I'm Jill, from I Know the Plans I Have for You, and I can't believe I'm back for week 2!! This has to be my all time favorite project. My kids were also so excited that this one was something for them! I took a crib that I had sitting in the garage and transformed it into a craft station with personalized chairs (so NO fighting over them!). I lifted the drawer and mounted to the crib and made a table top with pressed wood. I used poly on the wood before I painted it to seal the splinters. I also used hinges so that the kids could store all of there mess goodies inside ;-). I used Annie Sloan paint on all except the green back so technically the entire thing could be used as a chalkboard! The kids LOVE it, and I hope you do as well! You can see the entire process at iknowtheplansihave4you.blogspot.com.
This is so smart! And I am super excited because I happen to have a crib that will be freeing up any month now, and this idea is simply perfect! Yeah :) - just awesome!
This is a genius idea!! I love it! Love the colors and distressed look!
#10- Okay, LOVE IT!! What an amazing transformation. My kids would never leave this craft station!

I have a crib that's been sitting in the garage for 3 years just waiting to be put together, photoed, and listed on Craigslist. Now I'm thinking about it differently.
