I'm so excited to be here at Nap Time Crafters. This was the first craft blog I stumbled upon last year and it's my very favorite. I just started my own blog Adventures of a DIY Mom two weeks ago. I already have several fun projects and I have tons of ideas for future projects. My project for today is the Striped Ragtop Baby Blanket.
1 yard each of three coordinating colors.
First you need to cut your fabric into 7" X 36" strips. The best way to do this is to refold your fabric. It comes off the bolt like this:
Open it up and fold it the other way, like this:
At this point cut it into 7" strips and it will be 36" long.
You will need 4 strips of each of the three colors.
Now we start sewing. Always sew everything with wrong sides together and with 1/2 inch seam allowance.
Grab two of your first fabric with wrong sides together, then place two pieces of your second fabric (wrong sides together) on top.
Sew them together, like so.
Then flip over, place two pieces of your third fabric (wrong sides together) on top of your second fabric and sew.
Repeat until you have all six panels sewn together.
Trim of any uneven ends.
Then it's time to start cutting. Cut along all seams vertical to seam, about 1/4 to 1/2 apart. Be careful not to cut through your stitching.
Next, wash and dry. When it comes out of the dryer, you'll have your ragtop blanket. Finished blanket is approx. 36" X 36".
This project only took me about an hour and ten minutes. (That does include being distracted because of my kids, but not washing and drying time)
Thank you so much Amy for having me!!!
Thanks Rachel!! Make sure you stop by Adventures of a DIY Mom and welcome Rachel to the blog world!
