Blogging Bootcamp: Buttons & Signatures

I hope you're enjoying Blogging Bootcamp:)
If you missed it or need a refresher you can read up on

An excellent way to get your blog out there is with a blog button! Then your biggest fans can put it up on their sidebar and send some traffic your way:)

1. Design your button:) The standard size is 125x125 pixels. If you want to design it on your own I recommend using Paint.net. It's a lot like Photoshop, but it's free! You can also get tons of amazing free fonts at DaFont. If design really isn't your thing I'd also be happy to make one for you for $5- you can see examples of my past projects here. Or...if you just need some pointers I'm happy to help you out by email for free.

2. Get the source code for your button. The easiest way to do this is to upload your photo to a blog post, toggle over to the "Edit HTML" tab up at the top and then copy the code. It will look something like this:
<img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OacPBQke_uM/TZqRrWgjmeI/AAAAAAAACyQ/rrO3KHMl1Ec/s1600/Blogging+Bootcamp+week3.jpg" />
You can also upload your button to Photobucket and get the source code from there. Then it will look like this:
<img src="http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h260/toonybug/naptimecraftersbutton.png"/>
***My button is through Photobucket since Tenille did the design, so I'll be using that code for the example

3. Use the template below to make your button and button grab box. Replace the red text with your image code and the blue text with your blog address.

<center><img src="http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h260/toonybug/naptimecraftersbutton.png" /></center>
<center><textarea rows="5" cols="20" wrap="hard"><br/><center><a href="http://naptimecrafters.blogspot.com/"><img src="http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h260/toonybug/naptimecraftersbutton.png"/></a></center><br/></textarea></center>

A signature is a fun way to add some personality to your blog! You don't need one, but it is kind of fun:)

1. Design your signature. You may want to grab a fun font from DaFont for free. You need to save your signature as an image. Then upload it to your blog and get the source code (need help- see above).

2. Next go to your Blogger Dashboard--Settings--Formatting. Once you're on the formatting tab scroll down to the bottom and enter the source code into the "Post Template" box. Now your signature will be ready and waiting for you in each new post:)

Easy peasy:)
